Connecting Business – Growing Opportunities

Causeway and Cork Chamber Grow Connections with New Partnership

Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange is pleased to announce it has recently partnered with Cork Chamber.

In recognition of shared ambitions to facilitate opportunities for members to grow connections to support business growth in Cork and over the Irish Sea, Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange and the Cork Chamber are pleased to announce a new partnership between the two business membership organisations.

Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange is a not-for-profit business networking organisation that has members across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Established in Edinburgh in 2016 by a group of Irish diaspora professionals living and working in Scotland, today, Causeway’s membership has grown, and the organisation represents professionals, from a variety of sectors and career stages, who share an ambition to build connections and collaborations, to boost trade and business relationships on both sides of the Irish Sea.

Causeway is supported by both the Irish and Scottish governments, and also has existing partnerships with the Dublin Chamber; Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce; British and Irish Trading Alliance, Enterprise Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland, and Scottish Development International.

As part of this new partnership, both membership organisations will work together in supporting each other’s activities for attracting investment and local business development, and will collaborate on promoting local and international activities such as bilateral trade missions, cross-networking workshops and annual business awards. These events will facilitate networking and open up opportunities for Irish-Scottish business relationships to be developed, with a view to enhancing trade on both sides of the Irish Sea.

Speaking about the partnership, Katherine Fitzpatrick, Director of International Relations at Cork Chamber, said:

“The Chamber is committed to developing relationships with diaspora, trade and business networks across the globe, that will give our members access to potential new clients and contacts in new markets.

"Following the publication earlier this year, of the Ireland-Scotland Joint Bilateral Review document, both governments have committed to enhancing our relationship in the areas of community and diaspora; culture; academic and research links, as well as the development of an Ireland-Scotland Trade Taskforce. By creating deeper links with organisations such as Causeway, Cork Chamber hopes to play our part in strengthening the connections between the business communities in both regions.”

Explaining more about the partnership with Cork Chamber, Causeway Chair David Greenlees said:

“From Cork to Coatbridge, our Causeway membership is growing across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland, and we recognise that key to the success of our network is partnering with organisations with similar activities, goals and ambitions to give added value and enhanced networking opportunities for our shared members.

“With ambitions to grow our membership network further in Ireland, we recognise working in collaboration with Irish Chambers of Commerce is key, and we are delighted to be formally partnered with the Cork Chamber and look forward to collaborating to promote business in Cork and shared opportunities that support and improve trade across the Irish Sea.”
