Building ‘Business’ Bridges Between Scotland and Ireland

An organisation dedicated to connecting and growing business relationships between Scotland and Ireland, the Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange has announced the appointment of Aoife O’Sullivan as its new Events and Membership Engagement Manager.

Established in 2016, Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange is a not-for-profit membership organisation that facilitates the sharing of business networks and ideas that allow members to thrive in their sectors and builds connections for businesses between Ireland and Scotland.

In recognition of Causeway’s growing membership numbers and activities on both sides of the Irish Sea, Aoife O’Sullivan joins the organisation to manage and nurture the membership engagement activity for Causeway, primarily through hosting events in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland. These events focus on issues of significance to businesses on both sides of the Irish Sea, as well as offer networking opportunities for Irish and Scottish-based business leaders and professionals.

Originally from Greystones, Co Wicklow, Aoife O’Sullivan has lived in Edinburgh, Scotland for over 20 years. Having graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a BA in Communication, her communications and marketing career has moved in a number of diverse sectors, including over 10 years combined of membership engagement experience with the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and most recently the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Commenting on her appointment with Causeway, Aoife said:

“Being Irish but having established my career in Scotland, I have admired for some time the commendable work Causeway has undertaken in building a networking community for professionals to get together to share experiences and expertise that benefit businesses and professionals in both Scotland and Ireland.

“I hope with my experience to date of recruiting, retaining and growing membership numbers, in addition to my success in building and enhancing organisations’ reach and reputations, that I can help Causeway develop and flourish its network further to facilitate future collaborations that will ultimately benefit businesses in both countries.”

Causeway Chairman and Director, David Greenlees, who is also the UK & Ireland Director for Priority Software, added to this, saying:

“In the current economic and political climate, it is imperative for businesses with interests in both Ireland and Scotland, to continue to partner, network and collaborate. Since it launched in 2016, Causeway has provided this vital platform to facilitate this mutually beneficial learning and development space. As we continue to grow, we are delighted to have Aoife O’Sullivan join us in helping us achieve our ambitions of expanding our network further. We wish her well in the role.”

Causeway hosts a number of events throughout the year, including an industry awards night and talks from invited guests focusing on a wide variety of issues that may affect business leaders both in Ireland and Scotland. The next event is ‘Leadership: On the pitch and in the Boardroom with David Sole OBE’ and takes place in Murrayfield, Edinburgh on 3 March 2020.

These events are free for Causeway members to attend; a non-members attendance fee is also available. Registration is essential.
