Leaders Dinner connects Scottish & Irish businesses

Collaboration and compromise were common themes at the recent Leaders Dinner hosted by Pathfinder at the Royal Scots Club in Edinburgh.

Attended by c-suite guests from public and private sectors, executives were addressed by Mike Russell MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Government Business and Constitutional Relations.

With Brexit amongst the topics of conversation for the evening, the Minister highlighted the need for cooperation built on shared values.

Mark Hanniffy, Consul General of Ireland in Scotland, was also in attendance and spoke about the close economic links between the whole of Ireland and Scotland and the work being done to strengthen these connections.

Paul Whitnell, President of BITA, highlighted the work his organisation is doing in collaboration with Causeway Scotland & Ireland to strengthen trade and relationships between businesses in the UK and Ireland.

Causeway is a membership organisation that facilitates business connections from both sides of the Irish Sea. Pathfinder Partner, Tom Byrne is the chair of Causeway Ireland.

The Edinburgh dinner is the latest in a series of invitation-only events with high profile speakers from the world of business and public life. Addressing guests, Alastair Geddes, managing director of Pathfinder Scotland, said: “Working in both Scotland and Ireland creates a unique opportunity for our clients to explore markets and make valuable connections. Providing a safe space for debate for senior executives is hugely valuable and brings significant business benefits.”

Causeway members attending the event included Represent, Brodies and  MacRoberts.
