Spring Forward Workshop - Goal Setting and Growth Mindset



In Ireland and the celtic calendar, the first day of spring in celebrated on 1 February, and is also St Brigid's Day.

As we approach the spring and hopefully brighter, less challenging days in 2021, we are pleased to invite you to attend this morning motivational workshop that will explore goal setting and growth mindset.

This online event will be co-hosted by leading Irish and Scottish coaching consultants, Causeway Vice Chair Brigid Whoriskey and Causeway member Brian Cavanagh.

This event will take place via Zoom and will be interactive, and include breakout networking / coaching sessions.

Brian Cavanagh, Mentoring and Coaching Consultant


Prior to setting up Brian Cavanagh Consulting, Brian spent more than 25 years in public service in Scotland. He was a Councillor and Health Board member and Chair, holding responsibility for key areas of delivery of public services. Taking on high profile leadership roles, Brian was well known and highly regarded across Scotland as a dynamic and forward thinking leader in the public arena. Respected across political parties as someone committed to getting the job done: improving public services, supporting business and enterprise, and ensuring quality care and support to vulnerable people. Brian now leads a successful mentoring and coaching consultancy specialising in leadership, governance and building influence. Brian believes that having the right leadership approach is essential for the success of an organisation. Through working with the CEO, Board or senior management team Brian helps to shape their vision, re-define their purpose and implement their core objectives. Brian is passionate about the quality of leadership, particularly in public service, and how that impacts upon people who use the services and the people who work in the services. Extensive service and organisational change programmes including supporting the development of local government in Kosovo are some of his achievements. He lectured at Napier University Edinburgh in social services, and local and national government and holds a degree in Political Studies. Brian was a member of the children’s hearing system. He chaired Social Work for many years as well as serving as CoSLA spokesperson on Social Work and as an advisor on Social Inclusion to the Scottish Government. Working now as an organisation strategist, consultant, and trusted adviser Brian guides CEOs and senior teams to operate in ways that bring long lasting change achieved in a short period of time. He has a strong track record of bringing about major advances in positioning for the market and delivering results. He helps businesses design innovative services, grow their share of the market and serve people well. Brian is also a keynote speaker on leadership and influence.

Brigid Whoriskey, Vice Chair of Causeway


Brigid is a business advisor, executive coach and non-exec board director. She is passionate about making a difference and supporting people and organisations to reach stretching goals. Brigid is an experienced business advisor specialising in strategy; change; leadership; and stakeholder engagement. She is known as a natural collaborator and communicator, with an ethical and inclusive approach, and she is driven to have a real and lasting impact on people and organisations. Her pragmatic, hands-on approach focuses on outcomes. As an executive coach, she helps business leaders who want a clearer sense of long-term direction to think big, set goals and take control of their future roadmap – it is often about finding purpose and being happier at work. She works with leaders who are facing relentless change, increasing demands and fewer resources to identify key priorities and new ways of working to achieve goals. Prior to setting up her own business, Envision Business Solutions Ltd, she was Head of Research and Innovation at RBS and previously was Marketing Director at Lloyds UDT. Brigid is joint Vice-Chair of Causeway and a Trustee of Tong-Len UK – a charity helping destitute families of Northern India.
