David McGowan


David McGowan is a partner specialising in corporate and commercial law. He has a wide experience of power projects and oil and gas projects. David has advised utilities, independent developers, lenders and contractors for over 15 years on conventional and renewable energy projects and oil and gas contracts. David advises on corporate acquisitions and disposals of energy projects as well as the drafting and negotiation of the key project contracts.

Matt Braund


Matt is responsible for growing the ESB renewable energy business and brand throughout the UK, but with particular focus on Scotland. He is experienced in all aspects of deployment of projects from greenfield, acquisition, planning through to operation. He is currently developing further partnerships between ESB and developers to help deliver ESB’s required levels of clean energy growth.

Nick Sharpe


Nick’s work involves overseeing Scottish Renewables’ media and public affairs work and liaising between the organisation’s member companies, the media and other stakeholders to promote positive news about the sector to diverse audiences. A former journalist, Nick trained on the South Wales Echo then spent seven years at the Sun, latterly as Chief Reporter. He then spent a year at Weber Shandwick, one of the world’s largest public relations consultancies, before joining Scottish Renewables in 2013

Chris Yendell


Chris is an enthusiastic and dedicated environmental consultant with a mechanical engineering background. He has over eight years of experience in the renewable energy industry working for onshore and offshore projects, both as a consultant and a developer. He has achieved full planning consents for 9 Onshore Wind and Solar schemes, managing the process across a range of stages from project inception through to a shovel ready status. Chris’s experience gained by working on both the client and developer side of a project team provides him with a unique understanding of the commercial and regulatory factors that commonly influence renewable energy projects.

Dr Mark Coughlan


Mark graduated with a PhD in Marine Geology from University College Cork, Ireland. Following which he took up a position as Project Manager with Gaelectric Developments Ltd on their North Irish Sea Array (NISA) offshore windfarm as well as assisting as Project Geologist on their Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) project in Northern Ireland. He is now taking up a role with Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions as Senior Marine Geoscientist.

Conor Manning


Conor is responsible for the successful delivery of Mott MacDonald’s engineering services on wind farm projects. With over ten years’ experience working in the renewables sector, Conor has over 1.4GW of direct owner’s engineer wind projects experience in diverse locations and emerging markets, including Mexico, Mongolia and Pakistan, as well as in established markets such the UK, Sweden, France and Ireland.
